چکیده

Technologies to Detect Glaucomatous Visual Field Damage There are several ways to identify glaucomatous defects from standard automated perimetry (SAP) print outs (Figure 1). Firstly, inspect sensitivity thresholds at each test point. It is not particularly useful to identify defects, because these values are not age-corrected. In older patients low thresholds could be attribdepression that could be caused by other pathologies (e.g. cataract). So in the PD plot, localized defects most likely from glaucoma are highlighted. Localized patterns of abnormality, identified on the PD probability plot, can be assessed to determine if they are what is considered characteristic for glaucoma (e.g. nasal step, superior or inferior arcuate patterns of defect). Odd-looking patterns Figure 1 shows all of the information available on a standard automated perimetry print out.

Investigating the effects of glaucomatous (POAG) damage on the mVEP parameters

Introduction: Glaucoma is considered as a major cause of irreversible vision loss, worldwide. Glaucoma includes a diverse ophthalmopathies characterized by attenuating the neural and connective tissue segments and eventually progression of specific patterns of visual dysfunction. Currently, perimetry is known as the most accurate diagnostic method in glaucoma and its follow up...

Management of Glaucoma in the Era of Modern Imaging and Diagnostics

In light of a rapidly expanding geriatric demographic worldwide, and the concomitant increased prevalence of glaucoma, the need for reliable and reproducible methods for disease progression has become increasingly necessary. Given the high costs and morbidity of treatment, whether medical, laser, or incisional, the ability to detect disease and to further demonstrate progression allows glaucoma...

New Technologies to measure Glaucoma Progression

5 1) Introduction Glaucoma is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive structural and functional injury of the optic nerve complex (optic nerve + parapapillary region) for which intraocular pressure (IOP) remains the only proven modifiable risk factor. Assessments of both structure and function of the optic nerve are indispensible aspects of the glaucoma examinat...
